One artist, using a series of unorthodox sketches and paintings, is looking to change that.

Haenuli Shin is a fashion designer who has struggled with depression for much of her adult life.

Seeing how death and depression went hand in hand in a work at the Paris Orsay museum, she decided to contemplate works where Death is her friend. Her only friend.

She states about her struggle with depression:

"I thought about my lost friends, broken hearts and hard times that I’ve been through. I wanted to accept my depression and I started to draw with short messages."

So you'll see here a friendship between the suffering person and death.

It borders on cute, visually, but the truth is that this spotlights a very unhealthy relationship in which the mentally ill "depend" on death as a salvation from their suffering.
