Now, who doesn’t know Tom Holland?

Starting as an unknown theatre boy from England, Holland was catapulted to unprecedented levels of fame in 2016 after his Marvel debut in Captain America: Civil War.

Holland achieved international recognition for his role as Spider-Man in the MCU.

Of course, to begin with, many were a little shocked to hear that such an unknown actor had been cast in such a big role.

But, Holland soon showed how perfect the casting was.

Directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo said that Holland had the edge because of his prior experience as a gymnast. In the script, Spiderman flipped in a scene, and Holland reportedly offered to perform the stunt himself during one of the auditions.

He is an incredible actor and is also well known for his comically loveable personality off-screen.

We all remember the time he accidentally let slip that his character had died in Infinity War to an audience full of people who hadn’t yet seen the movie.

Big whoops.

But, a side from his loveable personality and acting skills, there’s another reason that people simply can’t get enough of the actor…

His relationship.

Holland and Zendaya almost broke the internet when they confirmed they were dating last year.

Holland shared a picture to Instagram of the pair, calling Zendaya “My MJ” and wishing her happy birthday.

And recently they got fans all excited once again…

As they announced they’re taking their relationship to the next level.

Holland and Zendaya bought a home together in the UK.

The Mirror reported that the couple purchased a home which is located in South West London.

Their modest new pad is said to include a gym, cinema, and 6 bedrooms.

Wow!

But it seems even though Tom Holland’s life has been pretty public, people only recently realized who his dad is.

It turns out he’s pretty famous.

The actor and comedian Dominic Holland is Tom’s dad.

And he has even written a book about Tom’s success in the entertainment world, which has surpassed his own.

The audiobook is called Eclipsed.

“How does a kid called Tom Holland, who never had a speaking part in a school play find himself playing Marvel’s Peter Parker?” The bio reads.

“A series of happy coincidences and serendipitous events is the answer. A fluke, then? Yes, but not exactly, given that huge amounts of commitment and hard work have been required.

Eclipsed is the unlikely but true story of an ordinary family, muddling on through life without much of a plan and dealing with circumstances that confound normal expectations. Written by a dad who as a professional comedian took his own shot at show-biz stardom and called Eclipsed because his carefully honed plans didn’t work out so well.”

Fans were shocked that Tom’s dad is also famous, with one writing on Twitter: “Woah. I just learned that Dominic Holland is Tom Holland’s dad. They look so similar too, and I never put the two together.”

While another added: “Wait, Tom Holland’s dad is the comedian Dominic Holland? That is mad.”

But recently, Tom Holland has announced some sad news.

He’s taking a break from the movie industry due to his mental health struggles.

His latest project, The Crowded Room, was a real struggle for Holland.

“I’m no stranger to the physical aspects of the job doing the whole action-movie thing.”

“But the mental aspect, it really beat me up, and it took a long time for me to recover afterward, to sort of get back to reality,” he told Entertainment Weekly recently.

“I remember having a bit of a meltdown at home and thinking, like, ‘I’m going to shave my head. I need to shave my head because I need to get rid of this character,’” he went on in a brand new interview.

“And, obviously, we were mid-shooting, so I decided not to. … It was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before.”

“I just was terrified by the idea of playing this character,” he continued.

“I just really agreed that it was time to tell the story about mental health — mental health that is brought on by trauma.”

“. And educate some people into how crazy it can be and how your mind is so powerful — it can work for good, and it can work for bad — and it just really resonated with me.”

It was this role, in particular, that Holland was struggling with.

We were exploring certain emotions that I have definitely never experienced before, and then on top of that being a producer dealing with the day-to-day kind of problems that come with any film set added that extra level of pressure.”

“It was a tough time for sure.

“There did come a time where I was sort of like, ‘I need to have a break.’ I disappeared.”

“I went to Mexico for a week and had some time on a beach.”

“And I’m now taking a year off, and that is a result of how difficult this show was.”

And as for how he’s spending his well-earned time off?

  via Getty Images

“I’ve been seeing my family. I’ve been seeing my friends. I’ve been playing golf.”

“I’ve been, you know, going to the garden center and buying plants and doing my best to keep them alive and all that sort of stuff.”

“I’ve just been trying to be, you know, regular bloke from Kingston and just relax!”

It certainly sounds like he’s earned it.

However, this week, Tom Holland has shared some happier news.

That he’s part of a “Spider Boys” group chat!

“Myself, Andrew, Tobey — we have this amazing bond as three people who have been through something that is so unique that we really are like brothers,” Holland told The Hollywood Reporter.

“We have a great group chat and we catch up every now and then. It’s called the Spider-Boys.”

How cute??
