‘Friday’ Actor Tommy Lister Legally Changed His Name in Tribute to the Films

It was reported last month that the beloved actor and wrestler, Tommy “Tiny” Lister, had sadly died at the age of sixty-two.

And now, his death certificate has revealed a secret name change…

The shocking news devastated fans of the star…

And hundreds were quick to posted tributes while remembering his best performances.

However, his manager, Cindy Cowen, called him “a gentle giant” with “a smile as broad as you could imagine.”

He was known best for his performance in the 1995 comedy Friday, where he played Deebo…

A neighbor of the main characters who ended up making his mark on the film.  

He also appeared as a prisoner in Christopher Nolan’s 2008 blockbuster,The Dark Knight.

Lister’s other notable roles include The Fifth Element (1997), Little Nicky (2000), and Austin Powers in Goldmember (2020).

But, in December last year, tragedy struck.

Telling TMZ that he had been found unconscious in his California home on Thursday, December 10th, Cowen said:
“He was a wonderful guy with a heart of gold. Everyone loved him. A real gentle giant. We’re all devastated.”

Lister had been diagnosed with Covid-19 earlier last year…

He recovered, but Cowan admitted he had trouble breathing after becoming sick just a week ago. He was found dead at the scene.

His cause of death isn’t yet known.

But now, over a month on from the tragedy, his death certificate has revealed something surprising.

His death certificate shows that Lister had legally changed his name to reflect his most famous role.
