26-year-old reality star Christian Wilkins looked simply sensational in a sheer draped dress adorned with pearls.
The star arrived with his famous father, Richard Wilkins, who works for the Nine Network as their entertainment editor.
The Logie Awards took place at The Star casino in Australia, and everyone was taken aback by Wilkins who strutted onto the red carpet, showing off his muscular frame.
He paired his backless dress with a pair of dark hoof heels, and draped his long blonde hair to one side, fitting perfectly with his feminine get-up.
People were understandably blown away by his elegant red carpet look, with many taking to social media to share their excitement over his backless dress…
One wrote: “He looks smashing in that frock. It just goes to show that fashion is entirely what you make it,” while another echoed: “Love the outfit, because, why not wear a sheer dress to an award show. He looks gorgeous!”
A third wrote: “Good on him…. clothes are just pieces of material after all. If women can wear traditional ‘mens’ clothes then in an equal world the opposite has to be acceptable. Life’s too short not to enjoy a bit of dressing up.”
However, not everyone was impressed with his outfit choice, some shared pretty hateful comments, one Facebook user wrote: “What was he thinking wearing those boots with a sheer dress.”
Another commented: “If the idea was to look feminine… major fail.”
“He upstaged no one,” a third wrote.
Since then, his father Richard has clapped back at trolls who said he was a “disappointment to the family…”
“So… to anyone who dares to suggest that I am in any way ‘ashamed’ of my son Christian.. for whatever reason… You are wrong!” he wrote on Instagram.
But the entertainment editor didn’t shy away from being brutally candid on his thoughts about his son’s fashion choices too…
The 68-year-old defended his son on Instagram, saying he “didn’t flinch” when seeing Christian in the dress.
“I don’t understand that (parents not being in their son’s corner), but I certainly am. I didn’t flinch when I saw Christian in that dress. I didn’t think much of it,” he wrote.
The reporter then told The Daily Telegraph’s Confidential that he admired his son’s “bravery and style” – adding his son was “simply having fun with his choice of fashion ensembles.”
Although he admired his son’s bravery, the Aussie radio presenter admitted Christian’s outfits were not always his cup of tea…
“It’s not all my cup of tea, I couldn’t pull it off. But he is doing it because he is having fun,” he said.
He went on to say Christian’s outfits “deemed a bit questionable…”
But still praised his son for “shaking things up” with his bold fashion choices.
“I could not be more proud!! He is an exceptional human being who will leave his stamp on the world long after his detractors have disappeared. I love you unconditionally…” he said.
But it wasn’t just Richard who came to Christian’s defense.
Karl Stefanovic, Richard’s co-star, also voiced his support for the model…
Stefanovic not only called the blonde socialite a “beautiful human light,” he also added that he’s “beyond exceptional,” as quoted in the Daily Mail.
“Anyone who thinks otherwise ain’t worth knowing or paying attention to you. I love you guys so much. Soar higher,” wrote the Today Show co-host.
Apart from the nasty trolls on social media, Christian has got his fair share of supporters too.
“I think you’re a fabulous role model,” said one fan on Twitter.
And with the outpouring of support from his fans in the past week, Christian responded back at trolls with an unfiltered response.
“What is happening to the world!!!! Masculinity is ending!!! Burn everything!!” the Aussie model fired back on Twitter.
Well, what do you think?
