Actor Lenny Von Dohlen has sadly passed away at the age of sixty-three.
Von Dohlen passed away Tuesday, July 5, at his home in Los Angeles.
Von Dohlen’s sister Catherine was the first to share the news of his death in a Facebook post…
“The world lost a magnificent man on July 5,” she wrote alongside a photo of her with her brother.
Before entering the world of movies, Von Dohlen experimented with theatre productions…
After majoring in Drama at the University of Texas, he starred in Caryl Churchill’s hit play Cloud 9 and The Roundabout Theater’s revival of Desire Under the Elms.
“Above all, theater was his first love,” his longtime manager, Steven J. Wolfe, wrote in a statement.
It was only in 1983 that Von Dohlen’s debuted in Bruce Beresford’s Tender Mercies, after which landed him a mega opportunity…
He bagged the leading role in Electric Dreams — which collected $2.5 million at the US box office.
And the actor then went on to do some pretty iconic roles in Under the Biltmore Clock, Blind Vision, and Jennifer 8 to name a few.
And we bet you didn’t notice the late actor, who played one of the bad guys in Home Alone III which is where his love for comedy arose.
From then onwards the actor starred in both TV and film roles and perhaps, most notably, the actor played Harold Smith in the sophomore season of Showtime’s Twin Peaks.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the late actor recently collaborated with Sally Kirkland, Jennifer Tilly, and Keith Carradine in an upcoming indie comedy Sallywood — which is currently in post-production.
He is survived by his partner James Still and his daughter, Hazel.
Von Dohlen passed away after battling a long illness.
Rest in peace, Lenny Von Dohlen.
