For anyone who has worked a more blue collar job, they’ll fully understand how hard it is to make ends meet.
But for some workers, their paycheck is the only thing coming in to keep a roof over their heads.
However, one UPS driver’s paycheck has shocked the internet this week.
“Some jobs I’ve had paid “well” but the work wasn’t worth it really. I’d rather the other job for less pay and better work,” one commenter wrote.
Another added: “They deserve it…wonder what he actually gets after taxes.”
The paycheck amount has shocked many.

Working in hospitality is tough.
We’ve all had to work behind a bar or earn money waiting on tables, whether that’s as a part-time weekend job or a job to fund school studies.
It’s not easy.
Hospitality requires a lot of hard work and resilience and often, the work can be very rewarding.
But for some …
Working in hospitality is a full-time profession and it is the only way to earn money.
But for many people, it’s tricky to make ends meet.
Waitresses aren’t paid well, at all.
Which is not fair.
It is a disgrace at how little they are paid per hour, with many being paid as little as $2 per hour.
This is a very sad reality for a lot of people…
Especially for those trying to support and raise small families.
One TikToker recently went viral for sharing her story.
The twenty-year-old has worked as a server and a bartender in an Austin, Texas sports bar for just over a year now, and she is also the mom to a little boy.
She was fed up of receiving weekly paychecks that ranged between $4 – $11 for seventy hours of work, so her video shed some light onto this harsh reality.
“There are laws set up that allow tipped employees to be paid under the federal minimum wage, which makes us rely on the customer to pay our wages,” she explained to Buzzfeed.
She shared some advice.
“It’s not right that we have to do this, but I wanted to shed some light on the issue and inform the public about the importance of tipping,” she went on to say.
Tipping is essential!
“If I had a good two weeks from tips my check will be on the lower side. At my last restaurant, my checks would come out to be $0.”
And she spoke of how grateful she is to her customers.
“I just wish we were all being paid adequately and consistently. As you can see – by my check – I cannot afford to live off of $2.13 an hour, so I solely rely on the generosity of my customers,” she said.
Some offered advice.
And people have encouraged the young woman to pursue a job that pays a lot more than $2 an hour.
The paycheck says that Aaliyah had earned $708 in tips, and many have argued that this amount is more than what the minimum wage pays.
But this week, it’s another paycheck story that’s gone viral.
As a UPS driver has shared what he earns in a 49-hour week.
And it’s left the internet shocked.
This follows the drivers making a deal thanks to their workplace union.
This meant full and part-time union workers received a $2.75 hourly pay rise per year.
This extends to a $7.50 hourly increase over the contract.
New starters’ pay was raised as well.
From raising to at least $21 an hour immediately before advancing to $23 per hour.
And one UPS driver has taken to Reddit to share their updated paycheck.
And to extol the benefits of unionizing.
The Redditor wrote: “I’m a UPS delivery driver. I have nothing more than a high school diploma.”
“If you’re college educated with experience in your field making less than I am, you’re getting f**ked. That’s just my opinion.”
“I couldn’t believe it when one of my customers, who has a phd, told me I make more money than he does. How is this even possible?”
“My union, the Teamsters. Organize or get exploited.”
People have had a lot to say about the post.
“The working world could use more transparency like this,” one person wrote.
“If it weren’t for a friend telling me (and showing me the offer letter), I wouldn’t have known manufacturing spots in the Phoenix area were hiring at $45+/hour for lower level maintenance positions…
“If young people would consider learning a trade (construction, electrician, plumber, iron worker, millwork, tile work, stonework, etc.) you will make more money you could ever make in a generic ‘profession’,” another wrote.
A third added: “Bruh, I make less than you as an aerospace engineer.”
The driver received more than $2,400 before taxes across the seven days of work.
What do you think?
