A woman, who was unable to carry her own child due to health issues, has welcomed her second child thanks to her mom becoming her surrogate…
Twenty-five-year-old Kaitlyn Munoz, from Utah, revealed on Instagram that she wasn’t able to have any more children “due to some health issues,” such as endometriosis, and Sjögren’s syndrome.

Sjögren’s syndrome is an autoimmune disorder where the body attacks itself, damaging the glands in the mouth and eyes. It can also affect joints and the thyroid, as well as organs in the body.
Despite this, Munoz had previously gone through IVF where she successfully gave birth to her son, Callahan, as per KSL.

This left her with two frozen embryos from that cycle, giving her the opportunity to have another child, although they were in desperate need of a surrogate due to her health complications.
This is where her fifty-year-old mother, Chalise Smith, came in to save the day. She took on the responsibility of becoming her daughter’s surrogate.

“I saw Kaitlyn go through the IVF process, and I know what it entails. There are all the shots and so many emotions that are involved with it, and I told her that I understood the risks and that I had been praying about it for three weeks,” the mom of 8 said.
“Then she told me, ‘I was just sitting here thinking about who could I have to carry my embryos, and you called me up.'”
Alayna Kait Chalise Munoz was born on May 17, Smith later told Fox 13: “She was seven pounds, 13 ounces, 21 inches long, and came out just healthy and gave her little screams.”

Munoz took to Instagram to share with her followers what “an amazing experience” the whole journey has been. “I am at a loss of words,” she wrote alongside sweet pictures of their new little family.
Munoz continued: “My mom is a living angel and brought us another blessing earth side and we are in LOVE. When my mom offered to be our surrogate it just felt so right. My mom did so amazing throughout the pregnancy and we had an amazing delivery experience. Grateful for my mom and her selflessness in this journey.”
Smith took to social media last month to share the photos from her maternity shoot, adding a sweet caption about her experience…

“Alayna is one week! As I have reflected on my surrogacy journey this past week, I have been reminded of many things I experienced along the way. Many emotions and feelings played a role in the journey. Excitement, fear, faith, hope, anticipation, doubt, joy, and undoubtedly LOVE,” she wrote on Facebook.
“Never did I think I would experience something like this or have a baby at 50!” she added, writing: “As I turned to my Heavenly Father and Savior, through prayer and always pondering my choice in my heart, there were countless moments of guidance and confirmations that this path was a path for me.”
What an amazing story!
