It's no secret that police brutality against black people has truly gotten out of hand over the years.

More and more innocent people are being harassed and tormented just because of their race, and nothing is being done to put a stop to this unnecessary violence.

And now, a black mom's video to her son has gone viral for a heartbreaking reason.

It is a devastating fact that being shot by a police officer is a leading cause of death here in America.

About 1 in 1,000 black men and boys in America can expect to die at the hands of police, according to a new analysis of deaths involving law enforcement officers.

It's a harsh reality...

"That 1-in-1,000 number struck us as quite high," said study leader Frank Edwards, a sociologist at Rutgers University. "That’s better odds of being killed by police than you have of winning a lot of scratch-off lottery games."

This makes black people twice as likely to die at the hands of a police officer than white people...

And nothing much has been done in the last few years, despite these harrowing statistics.

It has been predicted that around 1 in 65 deaths will be a black person at the hands of the police.

"This epidemic is disproportionately affecting black people," said Brittany Packnett, an activist and member of the White House task force on policing. "We are wasting so many promising young lives by continuing to allow this to happen."

The police use racial profiling from criminal records...

And this is why black people are more likely to be randomly handcuffed, searched, and detained than white people.

And it is terribly sad that the police force are stereotyping these young people who have so much potential.

So growing up in America as a black person is not easy...

And a mom has recently outlined this in a viral video.

The mom wanted to outline the realities of many black families here in America...

Thirty-seven-year-old Kishia Ward, who is from Stone Mountain in Georgia is the mom to 10-year-old Darius and 2 other older daughters.

Kishia is an active social media user...

And she regularly posts videos on her Instagram and TikTok accounts.

She uploaded a video recently with Darius...

The video shows her talking to her son, who she affectionately calls Kash, before he goes to school.

"What is it I want you to do as a young black man growing up in America," she asks him, to which he responds, "come home and stay safe."

She then asks Darius what he would do when interacting with a police officer...

"Be polite, be respectful, and don't run," Darius says as Kishia nods her head and stresses the fact that he should never run.

The video ends with a list of rules that Kishia wrote for her children...

She said, "The sad reality is that a black man can follow every rule on this list, and not come home."

The video very quickly went viral...

And it outlined perfectly the harsh realities of life as a black person here in America.

It is heartbreaking that a child as sweet as Darius needs to be learning these rules...

Speaking in an interview, Kishia said about her son, "He is a very sweet and mild-mannered child, everyone just loves him. To me, he is an all-round great kid."

But despite his quiet nature...

Kishia said this conversation was necessary because "every day you see on the news that some black man, women, or child has been killed for whatever reason."

Kishia also had this conversation with her daughters...

"They all asked the question: Why? Why do they not like us because of or skin? Why are they allowed to get away with hurting or killing people?" she explained.

Kishia truthfully doesn't have the answer to this question...

But all she said was, "it will change one day, but until that day you remember how to behave so that you can come home to me."

Kishia is lucky to be a person who hasn't yet been affected by these issues...

"Thankfully I have never experienced any type of racism from any police officers, neither has anyone in my immediate family. Honestly, I was walking through life blind to racism until it became an every day or every week issue," she explained. "It’s like every time you turn on the news or the radio something has happened to a black person just because of the color of their skin. Unfortunately, some of the killings are being committed by some officers. Innocent people that just did not have to die."

But she is increasingly worried about her children...

"The older my children get, the more I become afraid for them. I can’t be with them everywhere but I can teach them how to protect themselves."
