Cameron Diaz is one of the world’s most recognizable faces.

From starring in such classics as There’s Something About Mary, The Mask, The Holiday, and a plethora of other huge roles.
But over the years she’s put acting to one side.

And now all of her attention goes towards her daughter, Raddix, who was born back in 2019.
As well as choosing to be a mother at a later age, Diaz has also shared that she has ditched many pressures women face in society since leaving Hollywood.

Talking about embracing her new life away from the spotlight, Diaz told Michelle Visage on her podcast: “The last eight years, girl – I’m like wild. I’m like a wild animal, like a beast!”
Along with her departure from the big screen, she also stopped feeding into the constant scrutiny of her looks…

Cameron said it was “hard not to look at yourself and judge yourself against other markers of beauty.”
She has taken a stand against this kind of self-hatred, and actively fights against it…

Which has resulted in some big changes to her beauty regime.
“I literally do nothing. I like never wash my face,” she shared.

“Twice a month if I’m lucky, I’ll be like, ‘Oh, I better put this on. One time works, right?’ Like is that all I have to do? I’m just not in that place right now like where I put any energy.”
That’s right, she barely washes her face, and there is a pretty important reason behind it…

“You just start to pick yourself apart,” Cameron explained about having to apply beauty products and makeup every day. “And you’re like, ‘Why I am sitting here like being so mean to myself?’ My body’s strong, my body’s capable. Why am I going to talk down to it? Why am I going to be mean to it when it’s like carried me this far?”
Diaz admitted that she’s done with that toxic beauty standard now.

“I don’t care. Literally, the last thing I think about on a daily basis – like maybe not at all during the day – is what I look like,” she said.
Diaz has spoken about her decision to leave Hollywood.

She recently chatted to Gwyneth Paltrow in an episode of In Goop Health: The Sessions.
“I just decided that I wanted different things out of my life,” Diaz told Paltrow.

“I had gone so hard for so long, working, making films and it’s such a grind. I didn’t really make any space for my personal life.”
Paltrow then asked Diaz how she felt walking away from such a successful career.

“A peace. I got a peace in my soul. Because I finally was taking care of myself… I just feel grounded and light,” Diaz answered.
“It’s so intense to work at that level and be that public and put yourself out there.

“There’s a lot of energy coming at you at all times when you’re really visible as an actor and doing press and putting yourself out there,” Diaz continued.
“When you’re making a movie, it’s the perfect excuse. They own you. You’re there 12 hours a day for months on end. You have no time for anything else.

“And I realized I handed off parts of my life to all these other people, and they took it. And I had to basically take it back and take responsibility for my life,” she concluded.
Back in 2020, in an interview with Naomi Campbell, Diaz shared that being a mom and wife has made her extremely happy.

She added that she is “the happiest she’s ever been.”
Diaz became a mother at the age of forty-seven, sparking a conversation and debate across the world about older parents.

However, she has been loving parenthood at her age and said that spending time with her daughter is a real form of heaven.
Speaking about balance in life, Diaz said: “[Others] get married [and] have a family in their youth.

“I’m kind of doing it in the second half of my life.”
“I have to be, like, 107. So, no pressure!

“Having a family when you’re young, it’s like anything when you’re young, you do it. When you’re my age and you decide to do it, it’s a real choice. You really have to work hard for it,” she said.
Diaz also confessed to Jimmy Fallon that she tries to enjoy every moment.

Because “every single day, there are leaps and bounds, and these things that happen.”
“Where was yesterday? Yesterday is literally gone, and today is a new day, and tomorrow will be a new day that she’s a completely different baby.

“But it’s so gratifying to actually get to see that growth and to be a part of it, and to let her be her. It’s just amazing. It’s the best thing that ever happened to both Benj and I. We’re just so happy,” Diaz said.
She even made fun of herself and said she doesn’t have pictures of her dogs anymore, as it’s all about the ‘Baby Shark’ and Elmo Song.

Now, that’s sweet!
Diaz clearly doesn’t regret leaving Hollywood behind.

And as well as the pressures put on women in the spotlight to look their best, there might be another reason why the star feels relieved to have left.
A clip from the 1995 MTV Movie Awards has resurfaced online, showing Diaz in a pretty cringey predicament.

During the show, Diaz took to the stage with musician Chris Isaak to present the award for Best Kiss.
And things got pretty uncomfortable on stage.

True Lies, Before Sunrise, Natural Born Killers, Speed or Dumb and Dumber were all in the running to receive the award, but before they could announce who won, Isaak did something pretty “cringey.”
While Diaz was trying to talk, he repeatedly grabbed her, leaning in for a kiss and saying: “Come here, baby.”

She tried to move away, but couldn’t escape his advances.
On the third try, he stood in front of her and kissed her, she was clearly uncomfortable, but that didn’t stop the audience from cheering.

Isaak then said: “I knew you’d come around,” while she tries to laugh it off and carry on with the award show.
People were outraged after seeing the video…

One wrote that she “just plays along a little bit just so she can get out of it,” describing the moment as “the epitome of the woman’s struggle.”
Another said it “makes my blood boil.”

While a third couldn’t believe that “people clapped and laughed.”
