British actor Warwick Davis revealed his wife made an incredible comeback after she was diagnosed with a heartbreaking condition.
“He truly is a gem amongst us. He has put so much joy and excitement into my life playing the many roles he has taken on,” wrote one fan.
Another agreed: “Warwick is such a legend and doesn’t get the recognition he deserves.”
This story all started when Warwick’s wife, Samantha, was rushed to A&E back in 2019.
Warwick recalled the incident and said that his wife felt “absolutely terrible” before being rushed to the hospital by the doctors.
The fifty-two-year-old actor said as her symptoms got worse…
“She was becoming drowsy, weak” and even “hadn’t been to the toilet in over 24 hours.”
“Fortunately for us, our doctor recognized Sam’s symptoms and told us to head to A&E immediately with a suspected case of sepsis,” said the actor-turned-comedian.
“It’s so hard to see someone you love more than anything in the world fighting to stay alive without the strength to even roll over in bed.”
Warwick told The Sun about the minutes before his wife was taken into the operating theatre and revealed he was “sort of saying goodbye.”
“Our family gathered by her bedside; although optimistic, we were sort of saying goodbye in case Sam didn’t survive.
“The next few hours were the longest of my life as I waited on the ward with our children in the empty space left by Sam’s hospital bed,” he recalled.
After breaking down in tears, the actor said he “hoped it would not symbolize a future for us without her.”
But, thankfully, Samantha made it through the operation…
However, Warwick told the media outlet that doctors said the infection “had ravaged every cell in her body causing depletion to vital vitamin and mineral levels.”
This was bad news.
Which meant that, even after being discharged from hospital, she would have to be cared for at home to make a full recovery.
But Warwick said his wife just wasn’t the same after battling sepsis…
“To this day Sam still feels the effects of sepsis and some PTSD from her experience. If I’m completely honest, I do too,” he added.
And he even urged others to get help whenever they begin to feel unwell.
“I hope her story will stay with someone which will, in turn, save a life,” the star added.
He offered another important insight.
“In these times, when someone’s poorly, it’s automatic to think Covid but please don’t overlook sepsis,” the actor wrote on Twitter.
Since then, Warwick has expressed gratitude and said: “We never take life for granted now, living each day as if it were our last.”
“I appreciate and cherish every moment that Sam and I spend together,” he concluded.
But following this tragedy, Warwick and Samantha have made a surprise public appearance.
Warwick is reprising his role in Willow, which he first played in 1988.
The movie is being remade into a Disney+ TV series.
But what really surprised fans was seeing Warwick and Samantha together, walking the red carpet.
The pair were happily in attendance at the show’s Los Angeles premiere.
This marks a renaissance in Warwicks’ acting career.
And he’s very excited to be back on screen!
“I played the character originally when I was 17 years old, so very inexperienced with life, and acting as well,” he told PA news agency.
“Coming back to the character now, I’ve got a lot more life experience, I’m older, wiser, hopefully a better actor now, and so I brought all those things to the character.
“So, that was a delight actually, coming back to this guy, because I know him so well,” Warwick continued.
“The series gives us kind of long-form to tell the story, and to develop characters.
“And to really explore the world of Willow which, if you look at the series compared to the film, it’s really a drop in the ocean what we see in the film,” he added.
“The world is much, much bigger than that.
“Much, much bigger,” the actor concluded.
Will you be tuning in to the Willow reboot?
