Remember the scenery? When Chris Rock made a light joke about Will Smith’s wife and Smith ran up on stage.

It was one of the craziest Oscars moments in history.

Rock pleaded that it was only a ‘GI Jane joke’, but Smith was having none of it, shouting back after slapping him: “Keep my wife’s name out your f****** mouth.”

In the aftermath of the slap Rock’s mom has hit back on the ban, saying that her son is doing well but still ‘processing’ the incident.

Rose Rock told WIS:

“I told someone, when Will slapped Chris, he slapped all of us, but he really slapped me. When you hurt my child, you hurt me.”

When she was asked what she would say to Smith, she said:

“I have no idea what I would say other than, ‘What in the world were you thinking?’ Because you did a slap, but so many things could have happened. Chris could have stepped back and fallen. You really could have gotten taken out in handcuffs. You didn’t think. You reacted to your wife giving you the side-eye, and you went up, and you made her day because she was bowled over laughing when it happened.”

And regarding Smith’s ten year ban from the Oscars she said:

“What does that mean? You don’t even go every year.”

Rose Rock added that she was really proud of how her son reacted in the moment…

Later, Rock himself spoke out, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Will Smith has eternally been slammed by others in the hip hop industry, and Rock only added to the fire with his apparent comment to Dave Chapelle.

Chapelle said to Rock:

“At least you got smacked by someone of repute! I got smacked by a homeless guy with leaves in his hair.”

That’s when Rock replied with:

“I got smacked by the softest n—– that ever rapped.”

Wow.

The latest news is that Will Smith has claimed he had a vision of his career ending.

Smith has evidently taken a step back from the limelight following the controversial moment.

However an interview recorded prior to slapgate has now been released on Netflix.

In the interview, Smith told an anecdote about tripping on ayahuasca, and it’s took on a seriously different meaning following the slap.

He said: “Once you drink it you’re going to see yourself in a way you’ve never seen yourself.”

“One of the experiences was the individual most hellish psychological experience of my life.”

“I drank, and it usually takes about 45 minutes to kick in. And I’m sitting there and you always feel like, ‘Maybe it won’t kick in this time.'”

“So I’m drinking and sitting there and then all of a sudden it’s like I start seeing all of my money flying away, and my house is flying away and my career is going away.”

“My whole life is getting destroyed.”

“This is my fear in real life, and I’m in there and I’m wanting to vomit and all of that, and I hear a voice saying: ‘This is what the f**k it is. This is what the f**k life is.’

“When I came out of it, I realised that anything that happens in my life, I can handle it.”

Creepy.
