Police in San Francisco have shared a photo of a woman leaning out of a Cadillac window while brandishing an AK47, as she speeds ruthlessly down the highway.

The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) revealed that the image was taken during “an illegal exhibition of speed event” on July 11.

The incident took place on Barneveld and McKinnon, and, according to the department, the passenger had her finger on the trigger the entire time.

They shared 2 photographs of the incident on their Twitter page, one showing a woman leaning out the window in a dark hoodie holding the weapon, and another of the vehicle being towed away by police officers.

On 7/11/2021, During an illegal exhibition of speed event at Barneveld & McKinnon, a passenger leaned out of a Cadi holding an AK47. SFPD Traffic Company personnel worked up a case and seized this particular vehicle today. @SFPD @sfmta_muni @SFPDPerea,” police said in the post.

And people are shocked by the image…

One Twitter user wrote: “Huh ?… “an illegal exhibition of speed event”… cuz everything else going on in that picture was legal.”

Another commenter sarcastically wrote: “WHAT? Criminals aren’t following gun laws?!! Wow, that’s an absolute breakthrough discovery. When will people recognize that the penalties for breaking the laws we have aren’t severe enough.”

While a third argued: “This is why gun laws and infringing law-abiding citizens’ right to bear arms it’s stupid to try and do bc criminals do not follow the law. They will not follow the new gun laws. They will find a way just like with heroin, fentanyl, human trafficking, all of which are outlawed.” To which someone replied: “Good point, we should just do away with laws against murder and thievery, too, I mean criminals don’t follow those laws, either, right?”

The post gave no information about whether the woman in question has been reprimanded, and the department is yet to disclose her identity.

This incident comes as gun crime has risen in the last year, with double the amount of shooting reports being made this July as opposed to last year.

“The incident is being investigated by the SFPD Stunt Driving Response Unit and the SFPD Traffic Company,” San Francisco Public Information Office Adam Lobsinger told MailOnline. “Due to the fact that this is an open and active investigation we cannot comment further.”

California law defines “illegal exhibition of speed” as instances where driver speeds “to show off or make an impression on someone else.” Not only could the woman be jailed for ninety days, but she could also have her car impounded, which appears to have already happened.

“It is an illegal stunt driving event commonly referred to as a ‘sideshow,'” Lobsinger told MailOnline.
