A woman has gone viral on Reddit after branding her sister-in-law's baby name as the worst name she's ever heard.

Since finding out the name, reactions have come in strong on social media...

There's no doubt that unique baby names are on the rise.

Out go the Emmas, Jacks, and Jessicas of the world in favor of more modern, rare baby names.

In fact, many traditional names are virtually extinct.

The likes of Scott, Ashley, and Jordan have seen drops of around ninety-six percent as of last year.

But there are some parents many accuse of taking it too far when it comes to unique baby names.

And that's exactly what happened when one horrified woman found out her sister-in-law's baby name - the story of which she detailed on a viral Reddit post.

And finally...

But one woman was left horrified at her sister in law's baby name choice recently, and she is certainly not a celebrity.

The woman wrote the story of how she found out about the unusual name on Reddit.

And it seems it all started with a family zoom call (typical lockdown, right?) "Last weekend I joined a family zoom call where my brother and SIL wanted to announce their new baby’s name after spending nearly a month brainstorming. My parents and other siblings were also there along with their SOs," the post began.

Before revealing the eyebrow-raising baby name, the Reddit user goes on to say how the sister in law came up with it.

"Everyone’s kind of in shock while they explained the process. Apparently my SIL was reading a book and randomly closed her eyes and pointed at a word on the page, hoping to find a possible name." Seems a bit risky?

And, after seeing the word she landed on...

The sister-in-law thought it was meant to be. "She said she forgot about it until she kept seeing/hearing that word pop up days after in different ways, in newspapers, on tv, on posters and on radio, etc."

The post continued.

"She said it sounded 'beautiful, exotic, mysterious and unique.' They also said the name will have to be pronounced in full (eg no shortening to normal nicknames) because it would take away from the uniqueness."

After hearing how the sister-in-law came up with the name, the Reddit user went on to say it was the dumbest thing they'd heard.

"So yes, it was literally the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard and I blurted out 'that’s literally the worst name I’ve ever heard. Are you guys joking?'" they wrote.

But it seems that didn't go down very well with the sister-in-law...

"SIL got really defensive and said that I don’t have to like it, it’s not my baby," the post continued.

It turns out that at the time, the whole family agreed that it's a terrible name.

But, now they want the Reddit user to apologize to the sister in law. "Long story short, my brother and parents want me to give a long apology to SIL. "I’ve apologized for upsetting her but I refuse to do the latter and am currently fighting them on it. I still think that name shouldn’t even be legal as a person’s name. AITA for still fighting this?"

After reading the post, reactions came pouring in.

And it's safe to say, the internet agrees that it's an awful name choice.

So, how bad really is the name?
