And when one woman found some little black dots in her house...

She turned to Mrs. Hinch’s Cleaning Tips Facebook group for answers.

And it's safe to say...

The cause of them is super creepy.

Images of the mysterious dots were uploaded into the Facebook group.

"Does anyone have any idea what these marks could be? They started appearing on the tiles in the kitchen in random little patches, then this morning this was on the top of the PC we have in the kitchen," asked the woman.

Soon enough...

She was inundated with responses.

And it turns out, lots of other people found them in their home too.

And started sharing their own snaps.

Luckily, many knew the reason behind them.

We have to be honest, its equal parts creepy and gross.

We've definitely seen these in our home before...

And never knew the creepy reason behind them.

After members of the group found out the cause...

Reactions came pouring in and people seem suitably horrified.

So, what causes the black dots?

Well, we have the answers!

The lady was stunned to find out that the little black dots were, in fact, spider poo.

Well, according to several members of the Facebook group, that is. "Spider poo. It washes off with no effort," wrote one user. Another typed: "Defo spider poo - got on the door due to light outside [sic]."

According to the Pest Guidance website, spiders "don’t leave solid droppings; instead, their droppings are thick and liquid."

It also adds that spider poo tends to look similar to dark ink stains. "Their feces look like splats or drips in the shades of black, brown, white or grey," the website states.
