A woman has been praised for her bravery after she fought off a fifteen foot python that was attacking her dachshund...

People have been left stunned over her bravery.

But of course, there's nothing she wouldn't do for her pooch.

They become one of the family.

Whether they're causing mischief, giving us those puppy eyes when they want a treat, or taking up the entire sofa, many of us couldn't live without our furry friends.

These loyal furry companions will do anything for their owners...

And often owners, will do the same for their dogs...

Tanya Drysdale recently fought to save her dog's life after a fifteen-foot python tried to kill it.

And after sharing her horrifying experience on Facebook, people have praised her bravery...

Drysdale shared her experience on the Snakes of Southern Africa group Facebook page.

She explained to group members that while at home, a fifteen-foot python attacked her dachshund and attempted to kill her.

"So who would have thought I would have to fight off a python twice, firstly when it bit my daughter at the end of Jan and then again today when it caught my miniature sausage dog," she wrote.

"It was a real battle to unwrap my little dog from the huge 4.6metre snake."

"My husband and I fought for over fifteen minutes to get it off her, all the time it was crushing her tiny body, I was sure we had lost her."

"But eventually we got it off, and apart from a few broken teeth embedded in her tummy she's ok."

A lucky escape!

Answering questions in the comments of her post, Drysdale also added that her dog is "doing well" despite being a "bit sore."

"Milo is doing well a bit sore but enjoying all the extra attention," she wrote.

What a brave woman!
