According to the BBC, back in 1987, Peter, who sadly passed away twenty-two years ago, was working in the garden of their family home in Cornwall, UK when he lost the ring.

For more than 3 decades the ring was lost, until Kendrick went into the garden on April 23rd.

Kendrick discovered the ring while she was clearing around the base of an apple tree.

Speaking with the BBC about her discovery, Kendrick said that as she pulled on a handful of grass, the ring “popped out of the ground.”

“It didn’t look at all like a wedding ring, it looked like a dirty piece of bent metal,” she said. “I looked at it and thought ‘no, it couldn’t be.'”

Kendrick, who is ninety-years-old, added she was very “excited” by the discovery and it even made her “a bit choked up.”

She also said that her husband would have been “as surprised as her.”

Now that she has the ring, Kendrick hopes to have it repaired in order for her to wear it as a necklace in memory of her late husband.
