Woman Gets Free Bottle of Wine After ‘Screaming’ Baby ‘Ruins Her Meal’

Usually, when you go out for a nice meal in a restaurant you want to relax, chill out a little after a stressful week, and have fun with your loved ones. But for one woman, out for a meal with her family, her dinner was apparently ruined by crying children…

This woman took to Mumsnet to detail her experience.

She arrived at 7.30 with 3 of her family members but after just 10 minutes, their meal was interrupted by other guests arriving at the table next to them with 2 small children and a baby. While she did claim she was at an expensive restaurant, there were no rules to stop children from being at the dinner service.

Soon after this, the disgruntled woman claimed the children started being disruptive.

She wrote: “One child kept bashing his spoon off the table, another kept crawling along the wide windowsill so that he was right behind my head, and the baby was kept amused by the father playing peek a boo while she screamed excitedly. This went on and on.”

When she did what most of us would have done and asked to move tables, the restaurant informed her that there were none available.

After one small child and the baby started crying, the woman’s family got up and left (even before their dessert) ensuring to make a complaint on the way out. The restaurant took a bottle of wine off the meal but the internet was left debating whether this was enough.

While she got a free bottle of wine from the situation, this woman wants a policy implemented.

She just couldn’t enjoy her meal before asking whether she was being “unreasonable”. It seems Mumsnet was divided though over whether this was an experience worth complaining about.

Commenters all chipped in with their own takes.

Some claimed they were have felt the same, while another said it was: “Just bad luck.” It seemed the majority of readers did feel sympathetic but the consensus was that it was a “public restaurant”.
