Planning your perfect wedding takes a lot of time, money and effort.
So it just has to be perfect. And I’m talking about every single tiny detail.
Nothing must be out of place and everything must go to plan.
Well, that’s how the majority of people feel about their big day, anyway!
A wedding day signifies the love and commitment between a couple, so it’s only natural for the happy couple to want their day to be one to remember.
And one that they enjoy…
And that’s why it is important that the couple organize a wedding for them to enjoy.
Even if that may mean that some people are left disappointed by it.
But certain aspects of the wedding can be contentious.
Especially when it doesn’t exactly go to plan…
Bride Kayley Stead decided to take matters into her own hands when she was ghosted at her own wedding…
Yes, her fiancé, Kallum Norton, had pegged it miles before the bride could even say “I do.”
Metro reports that the word got to Stead’s bridesmaids at around 7 am on the day of the wedding.
“[A groomsman] called one of the maids of honor to explain that the groom had ‘gone,’” the GoFundMe page reads.
“We were told he had left the caravan they were staying at in Oxwich Bay (the venue) at 12:30 a.m. to visit his family, who were staying in another caravan nearby and hadn’t returned. When they woke in the morning, he was not there and his car had gone,” it continues.
The 27-year-old bride told the media outlet that she spoke with the groom at 4 pm the previous day, but they stayed the night with their respective parties to save some mystery before the big day.
“The groom and I had already agreed not to speak the night before the wedding anyway, so I didn’t know what was happening on his end, I didn’t have a clue,” she said.
As per reports, Stead was in absolute shock after hearing the news, as she had paid for nearly the entire wedding herself, and even used up all of her life savings on the £12,000 ($13,288.86) affair.
She then revealed she decided she didn’t want it to go to waste and so carried on without the groom.
Even so, Jordie Cullen, who is a friend of the bride set up a GoFundMe page to help Stead recoup her losses and it has already surpassed its goal of £10,000 ($11,074.05).
She recalled the big day and said Stead was “the most beautiful bride we had ever seen.”
“As a joke, the videographer said ‘Why don’t you carry on, girls? You’ve spent all this money, you’re not getting it back, all your guests are there, why don’t you just go?’” Stead admitted.
“That’s when I was like, I’m going to do it. I’d spent all this money, I’d been looking forward to the food, a dance with my dad, spending time with my family, so why not?” she added.
Stead also said her friends, family, and even the groomsmen didn’t let things go to waste and they too enjoyed her wedding entrance, food, speeches, dances, and even posed for photos.
“I didn’t want to remember the day as complete sadness,” she said.
And it turns out the 24-year-old groom was in no mood to apologize. Reports in The Sun revealed that the only thing he said was: “I don’t want to talk about the article.”
