It can be a very frustrating situation.
And one in which you have to learn to keep your cool and not retaliate like one woman did.
Twitter user Shannoncooperox recently shared her story about the time her neighbor's kid threw a cup of water over her cat.
So, to teach the kid a lesson, she threw threw a basin of water over him.
But as you can imagine, the post - which has attracted over 5 hundred thousand likes - has caused a huge debate online...
With some people blaming Shannon for the incident.

Explaining the situation, she wrote: "My 10 year old neighbour just threw a cup of water over my cat who was sitting on the fence minding his own business n laughed so I threw a basin of water over him from the window and now his dad is at my door going mental but I don't see the problem, don't touch my cat."

Fortunately, though, it seems the situation turned out fine eventually...
And Shannon and her neighbors even managed to laugh about what happened.
