Imagine.
You’re earning a low wage in a dead end job. You’re living hand to mouth. Every month is a struggle. And then, out of nowhere, a mistake lands you with a monster pay check.
What would you do?
Well this man did what I absolutely 100% definitely definitely definitely wouldn’t even think of doing myself. He took the money and ran.
The unnamed employee worked at Consorcio Industrial de Alimentos in Chile and was expecting to be paid $544, around 300 dollars lower than the average pay in the country.
But when the employee checked his account, he’d actually been paid around 180,000 dollars.
Initially the man approached HR at the company and informed them of their mistake.
A deal was made that the employee would take out the money and return it to the company (seems like a pretttttty dumb agreement from the company, surely they could’ve just reversed the payment?).
And as I imagine you can foresee, the man stuck to his agreement. Until he left the bank that is.
Yes, the unnamed employee withdrew the 180,000 dollars and just absolutely legged it.
He hasn’t been seen since.
Although his lawyers did get in touch with the company to say that he has resigned from his role… The shade.
The company have since gotten the law involved.
Accusing the man of misappropriation of fund.
