After saving a 10-year-old girl who had been abducted.

The pair have become facebook sensations after locals heard the news…

With many flocking online to share their thanks to the men…

The girl, Jalisa Lasalle, had gone missing on Sunday in the early hours of the morning, according to police.

It was thought she was in “imminent danger,” and investigators issued an Amber Alert, featuring a gray Nissan that Jalisa was last seen getting into.

Pelican Waste & Debris workers Dion Merrick and Brandon Antoine sensed something wasn’t right straight away…

After spotting a car in the middle of a field on Monday morning, while on their usual garbage route.

Merrick later said in a video posted to Facebook Live…

“Something told me… I said, what’s that car doing off in the field like that?”

They then used the garbage truck to stop the car from getting away and instantly called the police…

“I blocked the truck in, [making] sure he couldn’t get out,” Merrick said.

After an officer later thanked the men for their quick thinking, Merrick began to tear up.

“She’s safe right now,” Merrick said.

Pelican CEO Roddie Matherne released a statement praising the men…

Saying: “We couldn’t be prouder of Dion and Brandon. In fact, All of our Pelican Waste team have been heroically working without fail during the pandemic quietly, professionally, and consistently serving the communities where we collect garbage & debris. They often respond in other ways while on the road. This was an exceptional thing that may very well have saved a little girl’s [life].”

In the video posted to Facebook, thirty-three-year-old suspect, Michael Sereal, can be seen being taken away by police…

With him shouting, “Why are you doing this to me?”

As it turns out, Sereal is known to one of the girl’s family members…

According to online jail records, he is currently being held without bond for kidnapping the child, and failure to register as a sex offender.

He is even listed on the New Iberia sex offender database for a previous conviction.

Thankfully, Jalisa has been evaluated and is reportedly doing well.

She has even posed in a picture with her rescuers…

What amazing men!
