Despite some re-openings, thanks to school closures across the nation, many students are still being forced to have their classes over Zoom.

It's never the ideal situation.

But what about if you didn't have an internet connection?

Sure, WiFi is pretty much a utility now...

But not everyone is lucky enough to have access to a computer or internet at home - especially in light of people losing their jobs due to the pandemic.

Well, one little boy has been faced with this exact issue.

His mom suggested he go to his school, which is located just across a field from the family’s home, as the family could no longer afford their internet connection.

Angel told CNN her son at the time was happy with the solution:

"He was like, ‘Yeah, I need to be back on the school property, and I could be like a normal kid again’," she explained.

She continued.

"Him just being outside of the building gives him that, ‘Hey, I’m at school’ feeling even though he’s not around other classmates or teachers."

Jonathan now walks to school every day, just how he did when its doors were open, except now he can’t go inside.

Angel described her son as "very independent," and with the school being so close to their home she and her husband were happy to let him work there.

And Angel says the principal, secretary, and teachers come outside to check up on Jonathan, though he is happy to be able to have access to the internet to talk with his classmates online.

Though Jonathan seems more than happy with the arrangement...

A teacher who works in the school district said she was heartbroken to see Jonathan working outside the school.

She shared a photo of the young boy with a friend, who posted it online with Angel’s permission.

The post went viral online and it caught the attention of one generous person.

After seeing the snap, a good samaritan offered to pay the family’s internet service for a year to help Jonathan complete his work from home.

And it's even spawned an entire GoFundMe page to raise money to help other kids who have been struggling to get internet access.

But, while the generosity of the public is of course welcome...

Angel has said that Jonathan would like to keep going to school even after the family gets internet service again, though the school district said he’d need to have a parent with him in future.

Hopefully, it won’t be long before Jonathan can safely reunite with his classmates in person at school.
