Animal Shelter Wants You To Raid It Instead Of Area 51

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, it’s likely that you’ll have noticed the internet takeover regarding Area 51. If you somehow managed to miss the story, thousands of internet users decided that they were all going to storm Area 51 together, with the understanding that the government can’t stop all of us. The idea sparked some of the best memes that the internet has given us in recent months – until it all blew over because of the incredible first look at the trailer for Cats.

But now, an animal shelter in Oklahoma has come up with a bargain for the general public. On the way to pick up their new alien baby from Area 51, they’re suggesting that they stop by and pick up a matching fur baby – and the pictures are incredible.

The mysterious place in Lincoln County, Nevada, has always been kept highly under wraps by the government.

For conspiracy theorists, Area 51 is basically the zenith of all government secrecy. Because so little is known about the place, we can essentially fill it with all manner of fantastical ideas.

Well, it’s all thanks to one Facebook group. Originally started as a joke, it ended up with tens of thousands of members, all willing to storm the area to find out what’s there once and for all.

Some officials spoke out against the plan, denigrating it as stupid and dangerous.

The “storming of Area 51” quickly became a favorite topic for meme enthusiasts.

So the plan called for an army of Kyles, which, if you aren’t aware, is the name that the internet has decided to give white, slightly moody, male teenagers armed with a can of Monster and a stench of Axe body spray.

The fact that the whole thing was pretty much forgotten when that trailer for 2019’s Cats came out. The internet is a fickle place, my friend.

And the reason? Well, it’s all from quite an unlikely source – an animal shelter in Oklahoma.

And, noticing the internet’s odd obsession with Area 51, they decided to take matters into their own hands.

They decided that, if the world was so obsessed with getting a pet alien, you’d think they’d be just as obsessed with getting an actual pet, right?

By putting their adoptable pets in “space.” Well, since we’re so obsessed with aliens, it kind of makes sense, right?

The images had the caption: “Come storm our shelter… Adoption isn’t that far out of this world!”

They gave some of their dogs makeovers with Alex-Jones-style tinfoil hats. Cute!

“We have great animals ready to protect you from the Area 51 aliens,” Oklahoma Animal Welfare Shelter claims.

Props to the social media team working at the shelter – they’ve managed to go viral and create a huge uptick in pet adoptions!

This adorable little kitten was captioned with “3 month old male. Super friendly and sweet!” But, if you’re interested, you’re out of luck – he’s now been adopted!

While they have clearly exploited an internet trend for their own ends, they’re doing it for a good cause – and anything that helps out cute animals is ok with us!

Although this whole Area 51 thing has no real benefit to society, saving abandoned pets can reliably be called a good thing, right?

Just when you thought that this whole Area 51 thing couldn’t get any stranger, there’s a random pet shelter in Oklahoma putting their own twist on the tale.

Any excuse to look at pets wearing tin foil hats through a space filter is fine by us! Hungry for more Area 51 content? You’re in luck! We have the best alien raid memes right here – just keep scrolling!
