But there’s one royal couple best known of them all…

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, or William and Kate, as we know them best, are the firm favorites of the younger, more modern monarchy.

Following their lavish, and highly documented royal wedding in 2011, Wills and Kate were thrown into the media spotlight…

And we still can’t get enough of them.

It all began for Will and Kate back in 2001…

William, who is the son of Prince Charles and in line for the throne, met Kate at the University of St Andrew’s in Scotland.

From there, the pair’s relationship blossomed until…

9 years after they first met, their engagement was announced in 2010.

A couple of years later it was then announced that Kate was pregnant with their first child.

In July 2013, Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge was born, becoming the third in line to the throne of Great Britain. Kate emerged from St. Mary’s hospital in London in a blue polka dot dress, which many saw as a fitting tribute to Princess Diana, who wore a similar spotty attire herself some thirty-one years earlier.

Then, just 2 years later, Kate fell pregnant again…

Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana was born in May 2015.

And just 3 years later, Prince Louis Arthur Charles was born in April 2018.

Princess Charlotte became the first female royal to retain her claim to the throne, despite having a younger brother.

Before the Succession to the Crown Act 2013, the birth of a son meant that he would leap over any older daughters in the line of succession.

But, now that Princess Charlotte hasn’t been ruled out by gender, Prince Louis remains fifth-in-line to the throne, while Charlotte is fourth-in-line behind her older brother, Prince George.

It’s clear to see that William and Kate really are paving the path to a more modern monarchy.

And fans of the royal family seem to be on board with it.

It’s now been over a decade since William and Kate tied the knot…

And their popularity is only growing!

And if there’s one thing that the world loves about the couple…

It’s getting behind-the-scenes details of their royal life.

However, the latest news to be revealed is a little more than we bargained for.

And it’s leaving everyone a little nauseous.

The Mirror recently reported that Kate Middleton had a pretty unusual nickname for Prince William while they were at college together.

Now, the royals are known for having pretty ridiculous nicknames for one another.

Even the Queen has been known to go by ‘cabbage,’ ‘sausage’ and even ‘Gary’ by her nearest and dearest.

And she has young Prince William to thank for the latter.

But it’s Prince Williams’ nickname given to him by his now-wife that’s got everyone talking.

“After the build-up about her ‘hectic partying’ that wasn’t the sort of nickname I was expecting,” one Facebook user wrote.

Another wrote: “Kate Middleton’s Nickname for Prince William Is So, So Cringe.”

However, some fans have defended the name, with one Facebook user writing: “I’m sure she would be referring to his height. Why turn everything into smut.”

It turns out Kate Middleton used to call Prince William “Big Willy” when they were in college.

She also reportedly called him “Baldy” too as a joke, which hasn’t aged too well.

What do you think, endearing, or a little too much?
