Macy Gray thinks the time has come for a new national flag…
And not only does she think the design is in need of a revamp…
But she feels as though there are many things we need to add to it to represent modern day America.
The “I Try” singer expressed her opinion in MarketWatch this week, in which she made the case for the new design as the current version is “tattered, dated, divisive, and incorrect.”
She said the American flag’s reputation was tarnished after the events of January 6th, when MAGA supporters carried them alongside Trump flags while they stormed the Capitol.
She also said the stars should be adjusted to fifty-two, to take into account D.C. and Puerto Rico.
Lastly, she suggested the color palette of the flag should be modernized.
Firstly, she thinks the white stripes should be off-white…
And that the stars should be changed to represent every skin tone here in America.
However, she wants to keep the blue square and red stripes — which stand for vigilance and perseverance, because she believes this still captures the heart of the U.S.
Macy ended her statement by writing: “Sixty-two years later, in 2021, we have changed and it’s time for a reset, a transformation. One that represents all states and all of us.”
What do you think about her ideas for the American flag?
