Working on the frontlines of this pandemic doesn't just have physical health repercussions.

Many have overlooked the huge impact it will have on the mental health of hundreds of thousands of healthcare workers across the globe - especially since so many of these frontline workers are having to stay away from their families and kids.

In fact, some have spoken out and said that we will soon be facing a PTSD crisis...

"The group that is most at risk are the front-line health care workers,’’ as well as the people who lost loved ones, said Stanford University Professor Debra Kaysen, head of the school’s International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.

Despite everything, in our hour of need...

We rely on the incredible work of the emergency services and healthcare professionals.

And when it comes to medical pandemics?

It's these people who are on the front line trying to protect us.

And more often than not...

They don't even have sufficient protective gear, or at least, not enough of it to go around - i.e. proper masks.

We can get so wrapped up in ourselves, that we forget how much we rely on these people...

And of course, the fact that they are exposed to sick people day in day out - working hours that many of us couldn't even begin to imagine.

They themselves put their own health at stake.

Not to mention the long hours and mental health repercussions that come along with this.

And of course, this is no different when it comes to the current outbreak.

As the situation gets more serious, we are leaning on the vital work of healthcare professionals more and more.

In fact, things have gotten so bad that retired healthcare professionals are being asked to return.

Yep, really. Over the pond in the U.K. tens of thousands of retired medics are being asked to return to the UK's National Health Service in order to "boost frontline services," as per the BBC.

Healthcare services are strained as it is.

And we have to remember that they are people too.

Many frontline staff have been unable to see their families.

It's been a really tough time for those working on the frontlines who have been unable to see their kids for weeks.

But some workers are finally being reunited with their family...

And one family in the UK documented the emotional moment a mom was reunited with her daughters. Keep scrolling for the clip...

Suzanne Vaughan has been working on the frontlines of the National Health Service in the UK.

And she has been away from her 2 daughters for 9 nine weeks.

The forty-three-year-old made the difficult decision to separate from nine-year-old Bella and seven-year-old Hettie while she worked in a hospital operating theatre and ICU.

She has been working around the clock - doubling her usual work hours.

She spoke out about what it was like to leave her daughters:

“Leaving them was very emotional as I didn’t know how long it would be until I saw them again - I never expected it to be nine weeks," she explained.  “But so many others have made the same sacrifices because we want to help people and fight this virus."

She continued:

“It was something I needed to do - I started doing this job over 20 years ago because I wanted to help people. “I put work first for nine weeks, but I think now it was time I put my girls first."

But now she's had the chance to finally reunite with her girls...

In the emotional clip, that has since gone viral on Twitter, she can be seen surprising her daughters, who had been staying with her sister.

The adorable pair had no clue their mom was behind them.

She sneaks up on them before sharing a tear-jerking cuddle.

It's a truly heartwarming sight.

And the clip has been pulling on the heartstrings of viewers online.
