Traveling Hacks To Save Space in Your Suitcase

If you travel frequently, you are already aware of the importance of being organized in your packing. If you tend to stuff everything you need into a suitcase without properly designating space and pockets for different-sized items, you will often find yourself wasting time because you have to empty the entire suitcase to find something tiny. The trick is to pack more while occupying less space, and there are quite a few ways of doing this. One of our favorites is investing in different-sized packing cubes, so you can stay organized while saving space as well. Keep reading to find out more traveling hacks that will help save space in your suitcase.
PACK ESSENTIALS
This may seem obvious but once you really start to think about items that you will actually use on your trip, you will realize how much space you can save. It is good to have a contingency plan and keep a few extras for emergencies, but this does not mean that you pack every possible necessity that you have in your home, especially if it can be bought easily at your destination. A good practice is to lay down everything that you are planning to pack and analyze the use of each. When you do this once, you will have a better idea when preparing for the rest of your trips.
ROLL YOUR CLOTHES
We have heard the roll versus fold debate too often, and we are here to tell you that rolling your clothes is the best option when you want to save space. Roll up your shirts and pants, and you will notice that you will be able to fit three rolled jeans into the space that is occupied by a single folded one. Avoid stacking folded clothes on top of each other, and try to pack clothing that does not crease easily. Irons are not always available, so you should be able to wear your shirts comfortably straight out of the suitcase.
INVEST IN PACKING CUBES
Packing cubes are the best way to stay organized because it is easier to stack them inside a suitcase than it is to fit different-sized items without any partitions. The rolling technique works great in packing cubes because you can easily stack them inside the cube and they will stay put. The space inside the cube will also help you restrict your items as you can decide to only take those things with you that will fit inside one. When you place the cube inside your suitcase, you will have the rest of the space to carry other essentials including toiletries, towels, undergarments, and shoes. Toiletries should be kept in a separate bag because shampoos and lotions can sometimes leak, and you want to make sure that they do not ruin your entire luggage. This bag can either be a small packing cube or just a regular plastic bag. Just make sure that you have different-sized packing cubes for short and long trips.
PACK SHOES SMARTLY
Shoes occupy a lot of space because they cannot be folded or crammed into small spaces. The best thing you can do is to pack as few shoes as possible. If you are going for two or three days, consider not taking any shoes at all and try to make do with the ones you will be wearing while traveling. If you absolutely need to pack shoes, make sure you prioritize those that can be worn with several outfits. Trainers are a good option because they are ideal as walking shoes but can also double as dress shoes. It is also important to keep them in a separate box or bag so that they are not touching your clothes or other items.
