Rihanna has been met with backlash after she weighed in on the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.

TW: This article contains details that some readers may find upsetting.

The singer's comments come after a devastating escalation of violence in Gaza Strip this week.

In the worst bombardment of airstrikes since 2014, the territory has this week faced an abundance of attacks from Israeli forces.

At least eighty-three Gaza residents have been killed by the strikes since sundown Monday, according to Palestinian officials and Israeli media, as per The BBC.

At least several hundred more have been wounded.

Israeli forces have killed at least seventeen children in the territory this past week, Al Jazeera reported.

Palestinian militants retaliated by launching a heavy barrage of missiles on Tuesday, killing at least 2 Israelis in the coastal city of Ashkelon.

Hundreds of Palestinian residents have been left homeless as a result of the attacks.

Despite specific areas being targeted, residential areas and buildings have taken the brunt of the airstrikes, leaving citizens injured and on the streets with nowhere else to go.

Devastating footage from Gaza has been circulating on social media since the airstrikes began...

And people from all over the world have been watching, both transfixed and horrified, as the violence continues to unfold.

Numerous world leaders have called for the conflict and violence to end...

As have high-profile public figures and celebrities.

However, not every call for peace has been met with applause.

Actress Gal Gadot has faced an overwhelming wave of backlash after she seemingly sided with Israel in her post, saying:

"Israel deserves to live as a free and safe nation. Our neighbors deserve the same."

And the latest celebrity to face the heat of the internet?

Well, it's none other than pop power house and beauty mogul, Rihanna.

Rihanna, who is usually on the good side of her fans, has faced an unusual wave of criticism for her comments on the current situation in Gaza.

Much like the response to Gal Gadot's post, her followers are not impressed.

In the post, which was shared last night, she began:

"My heart is breaking with the violence I'm seeing displayed between Israel and Palestine! I can't bare to see it!"

She continued:

"Innocent Israeli and Palestinian children are hiding in bomb shelters, over 40 lives lost in Gaza alone, at least 13 of whom were also innocent children!"

"There needs to be some kind of resolve!"

"We are sadly watching innocent people fall victim to notions perpetrated by government and extremists, and this cycle needs to be broken!"

She captioned her post: "I stand with humanity! this ain't it y'all!"
