In 2017, 6ix9ine developed a unique persona as a hardcore rapper but became embroiled in the violent world of gangs.
When he was thirteen, his father was murdered just one block from his family home.
The experience had a huge impact on Tekashi, and he soon dropped out of school and started working odd jobs to help his mother.
“My pops died in eighth grade, and I just started bugging in school,” he told the podcast “No Jumper” in a 2017 interview.
“I was thirteen. I was waiting for my pops to come back home, and he never came.”
Thus marking the birth of his street persona, Tekashi 6ix9ine.
The young rapper found huge success with his music.
Tekashi’s first proper single was “Gummo.” Released in November 2017, it hit the Billboard charts and was remixed by the likes of Offset and Lil Wayne.
And there was even more success to follow!
In 2018, 6ix9ine released “FEFE,” a collaboration with Nicki Minaj, Murda Beatz, and Kanye West.
But controversy soon followed.
When Tekashi was nineteen and still rising through the ranks of internet fame and notoriety, he attended a party on February 22, 2015, where he performed several sexual acts with a thirteen-year-old girl.
He was first arrested in March 2015 but, miraculously, he managed to avoid any prison time.
But things got worse.
In November 2018, the federal authorities announced a series of indictments against Tekashi, his manager, Kifano Jordan, and others they said were members of the Nine Trey Gangsters, a notorious New York street gang.
The federal lawsuit accused the rapper and the rest of the crew of running a drug-dealing ring.
And enforcing their activities through violence.
After he initially pleaded not guilty to the charges, the judge denied him bail.
Citing an FBI raid in September that found an AR-15 assault rifle and a stolen ID from a man robbed in Times Square.
Then he switched things up.
He suddenly entered a guilty plea to the charges related to his involvement with Trey Nine, according to court records reviewed by INSIDER.
Tekashi began opening up about his doings while in the gang.
“I paid a person to shoot at a rival member of Nine Trey to scare him. The shooting took place in Manhattan. I did this to maintain or increase my own standing in Nine Trey,” he told the judge, according to a court transcript.
In a courtroom potentially filled with current or former Nine Trey members, he testified that he became a member in November 2017, and participated in violent crimes, including shootings, assaults, and drug trafficking.
Directly in front of them.
He nervously pointed at the defendants, Aljermiah “Nuke” Mack, and Anthony “Harv” Ellison, and ID’d them as Nine Trey Gang Members.
And many publicly disapproved, both of Tekashi’s actions and his snitching…
Because he was sentenced to only 2 years in prison with 5 years of supervised release.
The judge also imposed 300 hours of community service when he is released from prison and a fine of $35,000.
But then came the coronavirus.
His lawyer filed a motion, referencing the spread of the virus within the US prison system. He stated that he believed that the rapper should be allowed to serve the rest of his 2-year sentence at home.
The rapper wasted no time with getting himself back into the music scene…
On May 8th 2020, Tekashi released his new track, “Gooba”, complete with a slightly grotesque music video… And it quickly surpassed 214 million views on YouTube.
However, since his release, 6ix9ine has faced a fair share of struggles.
In a recent interview with theshaderoom, he revealed that he was hospitalized after a suspected overdose on diet pills and caffeine.
And now, 6ix9ine has been hit with another health scare.
He’s been hospitalized after being beaten up in a gym sauna.
“It was about time,” wrote one unsympathetic commenter.
“When u flash money instead of Muscles in the gym this is what u get back,” added another.
6ix9ine was reportedly minding his own business is a Florida branch of LA Fitness.
But a bunch of attackers unknown to the rapper spotted him and took issue with his presence.
The attackers reportedly cornered 6ix9ine.
And although he tried to defend himself, he ended up being beaten pretty badly.
Gym staff spotted to commotion and called emergency services.
6ix9ine’s injuries were so severe that he was then taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, TMZ reports.
There is reportedly extensive damage to his jaw, ribs, and his back.
It is not yet known why the group of strangers decided to attack the rapper.
But his lawyer has now claimed he needs federal protection when out in public to prevent this from happening again.
6ix9ine was unaccompanied by security when the incident occurred.
And disturbing videos of the incident have started to spread on social media.
It is not yet known whether the incident is related to 9ix9ine’s courtroom testimony.
